They had seven children in 11 years. He died on January 8, 1906, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 46, and was buried at Cathedral Cemetery (LOT 45 SEC G D7) in Scranton.

Anna Teresa Melvin was born in April 1863 in Mayo, Ireland, the daughter of Nora and James. She married Edward Joseph Hennigan on March 24, 1882, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. They had seven children in 11 years. She died on April 22, 1944, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 81, and was buried at Cathedral Cemetery (LOT 45 SEC G D7) in Scranton.

Edward's journey to the United States, was on the National Line's, The SS QUEEN.

Departure from Liverpool., England. Arrival to New York, New York on the 9th of June 1879. The SS THE QUEEN - National Line 381.1ft x 42.4ft Built in 1865 at Birkenhead by Laird Bros 3,412 gross Clipper stem, one funnel, three masts (rigged for sail), iron construction, single screw and a speed of 10 knots. The National Line (National Steam Navigation Company) was founded in Liverpool in 1863. The first intention of this line was to sail Liverpool to the US south. However, due to the civil war, routes were set up to New York. The National Line was one of the first lines to establish agencies all over Norway, and became quite popular in the early years. The Norwegians that traveled by this line had to go via England, as they had no direct sailing from Norwegian ports. In 1870 the company added London - New York sailings and made irregular Boston sailings. STEERAGE The steerage is large, light and airy, and warmed by Steam in winter. Married couples and families are berthed together; Single persons placed in separate rooms. Meals are served regularly three times a day by the Ship's Stewards, and consists of an unlimited quantity of good and wholesome provisions, put on board under the inspection of the Company's Purveyor. Plenty of fresh drinking water. The care of Surgeon and Stewards free.
